"Teach for Palestine" Institution held a specialized discussion session titled "Artificial Intelligence in Palestinian Education"

Ramallah – August 14, 2025
"Teach for Palestine" Institution held a specialized discussion session titled "Artificial Intelligence in Palestinian Education", as part of a series of sessions planned over the coming months. These discussions aim to explore the current state of AI in Palestinian education, attempt to answer questions regarding the necessity of integrating AI into education or not, identify the pros and cons of such integration, and ultimately develop a general framework that includes policies, directions, and mechanisms—should these workshops recommend adopting this approach.
Teach for Palestine, through its interventions, works toward achieving Goal 4 of the UN Sustainable Development Goals 2030, which focuses on providing quality, inclusive, and equitable education for Palestinian children.
The session was chaired by Dr. Tafida Jarbawi, Chairlady of the Institution’s Board of Directors, who emphasized in her opening remarks the importance of integrating artificial intelligence into Palestinian education within a strategic vision that ensures optimal use of technology while supporting individual and societal values and ethics. She noted that the aim of these dialogue sessions is to develop their teacher training program, which will later reflect on students.
A number of experts and researchers participated in the session, representing the Ministry of Education, Palestinian universities, and the private sector. Ms. Abeer Quneibi and Ms. Haneen Bastanji were the main speakers. They presented interventions on the importance of integrating AI concepts in early stages of education, highlighting Palestine's opportunities in this field, the factors that contribute to successful integration into school curricula, and finally, they discussed strategies to avoid and mitigate the potential risks to students resulting from this integration. Their presentations were followed by a constructive discussion on the ideas presented.
At the conclusion of the session, there was consensus on the importance of continuing the series and building on the experts' recommendations to develop comprehensive training programs for Palestinian teachers, enabling them to effectively work with AI tools in ways that support the development of education in Palestine and serve the best interests of students.
